Bookstall in a box

BookStall

Because God can use good books to change lives!

Why run a Church bookstall?

Church bookstalls are great for meeting and equipping people. They can be run to provide resources that will help people in their faith walk, give encouragement and provide an opportunity to compare books read and recommended. People may use them to purchase books or bibles for themselves or as gifts – for friends and new Christians, or presents for children. For the elderly they can be a much needed ‘shop’ that is easily accessible to them to purchase cards and gift books.

Bookstalls can be held for a one-off event, run for special occasions such as Lent, Easter and Christmas, Alpha, Men’s/Women’s conferences, and some churches like to have a bookstall permanently – they are extremely versatile!

It can take a while to get a bookstall established but regular recommendations of books by your minister, or placing a regular advert for the bookstall or personal book recommendation in your church newsletter/notice sheet can all help to maintain your profile.

Here at The Christian Bookshop in Birkenhead we would love to help you run a bookstall. Books can be taken on a "sale or return” basis, usually for 3 weeks, and you get a discount for every book you sell. That means you won’t have to worry about paying for anything upfront! Return any unsold books in a good condition and we can take payment on return or issue an invoice. If you are a fairly small church we would suggest taking around 15-20 titles at a time - too many books can sometimes be too overwhelming, both for you and the browsers! If you are considering running a permanent bookstall – remember it’s best to change the stock around every 4-6 weeks.

We would be happy to put together a bookstall box for you to help save you time – it would contain a mix of classic and new titles plus a couple of Bibles (NIV usually unless you specify otherwise). Alternatively, give the staff a ring and we can arrange a time for you to call in, have a browse and help you choose your own titles.
